Gail is an accomplished Career Services Professional with over 20 years of combined career advising experience in higher education, private industry, state and federal government. In her previous position as a Career Advisor with the University of Maryland University College which has a diverse, multi-cultural student body of over 93,000 students located in over 20 countries, she provided career counseling, conducted federal workshops, job-related webinars, assisted in administering campus career fairs, virtual career fairs as well as administering and interpreting MBTI and Strong assessments.
Prior to joining the University of Maryland University College she worked for a Department of Defense contractor where she assisted hundreds of military spouses with educational counseling and career counseling and frequently interacted with many major universities regarding a wide range of issues including admission requirements, financial aid, tutoring, transcript evaluations, retention and so on.
She has worked as a Director of Career Services and a Director of Student Services at several colleges as well as a Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant for the State of Florida. She also served in the private sector as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor assisting Veterans who were transitioning from military life to civilian life.
Gail currently works part-time as a Career Coach. Gail constantly receives referrals and kudos from students, alumni and clients who she has provided career coaching services.
Gail is a also a Certified Federal Career Coach, Certified Federal Resume Specialist and a Certified Federal Job Search Trainer. Serving as a Certified Federal Resume Specialist and Certified Federal Career Coach gives the people whom she assists an advantage when they are applying for paid or unpaid federal intern positions as well as when they are applying for entry-level federal positions. These positions are specifically designed for current college students or college graduates who have graduated within the last 24 months. Gail targets specific positions that are designed for students, alumni and clients and utilizes the 4 to 5 page federal resume format instead of the traditional one or two page resume format.
Recently, one of her clients accepted a position as an attorney with the Social Security Administration and in August 2013 a former student who Gail provided extensive career coaching accepted a position with the National Security Agency - NSA. The NSA operates under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense.
